I need some ideas/suggestions for April's theme o' the month. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, read this and this.
I'm stuck. Seriously. Easter is at the beginning of the month, and that threw me for a loop.
- Umbrella (ella, ella... ehhh) month?
- Spring Month?
- Something-else-because-those-are-the-only-two-ideas-I-have-month?
I'm desperate. Please send help.
April Shower's Bring May Flowers
ReplyDeleteYou could focus on Spring, things that grow, weather, God's creation, etc...
That was a cute idea (April showers bring May flowers)!!! I like that better than the one I was going to volunteer--OK, don't laugh... since April 15 is tax day, what about money month? You teach about saving, tithing, making extra money through extra chores, etc. You probably already do all that with Bennett. I like the first idea better anyway. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like the weather/nature idea, totally fits with April. I'm going to rack my brain for some other suggestions too...
ReplyDeleteWhat about Health?
You could teach about healthy foods and hygiene. Is that booooooring? I know you're working on chores and stuff at home so you could tie that in, too- Bennet can have "his" chores like brushing his teeth, eating a new food every day, etc.
Or... International Month?
Learning about different countries and cultures? I know you'd have a blast creating theme meals! You could teach Benny some words in different languages and show him where he lives and where other people he knows live on a map.
Music Month
Learn about different types of music and instruments
Feelings & Manners
Learn about happy, sad, angry, etc. There are some great childrens books about teaching kids how to deal with their emotions. (Mad Maddie Maxwell, The Very Cranky Bear, The Pout Pout Fish, Mind Your Manners BB Wolf) It's a good time to focus on serving your family and community to make other people happy.
It's hard for me to know exactly what stage you guys are at but you're so creative and FUN that I know you'll think up something amazing!!!
I vote spring month!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the tips and the wonderful ideas everyone! My friends are SO creative!
ReplyDeleteI'll keep you posted after I decide!
Oooohhh... I think I've got it everyone! I'm thinking maybe Farm Month or Garden Month. That way we can talk about how we plant seeds in the spring, we can talk about nature and things that grow and incporporate Nik's idea about healthy eating... and then we can also go visit Tanaka Farms and pick strawberries!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best--sounds like a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you can do the Tanaka Farms "tour" that Nate and I did with his class last week, but it was really cool (ride on the tractor/wagon, make several stops where the guide tells you about what they've planted, and you get to eat one of everything--one carrot, one onion, spinach, bok choy, etc.), and you get to pick strawberries at the end.
